This monochrome edition of the Veja Nova Canvas Shoes have a black organic cotton canvas upper with bold pierre coloured decoration which matches the wild rubber outsole. The low-cut design suits everyday wear and can be easily paired with a variety of trousers and shorts to suit various occasions. The lace up fastening helps to keep the foot secure and comfortable whilst on the move and on either side of the foot ‘V’ emblems add signature branding in addition to a logo printed onto the canvas tongue. Around the front of the foot an additional layer of canvas has been added for protection and on the back of the heel a fabric loop aids entry. Throughout the inside of the shoe an organic cotton lining has been added and the insole is made from a combination of wild rubber and synthetic materials. The sole is made from rubber with a percentage sustainably sourced from the Amazonian forest and underfoot a grip-focused tread pattern completes the design.
After being taken aback by the conditions they saw in a Chinese factory, François-Ghislain Morillion and Sébastien Kopp decided to found their own footwear company that was more aligned with their ethical and sustainable vision for the industry. Officially releasing their first trainer style in 2005, the Paris based team have made a substantial mark on the fashion industry which demonstrates how designs can be made without jeopardizing the environment or the health of workers.
